For Norwich City, the season is reaching crunching point with it all to play for on the pitch as the Canaries continue their ascent towards the Premier League.
Off the pitch, the clubs support is continuing to prove itself as some of the very best in the country as the Norwich City Fans Social Club reconvened to celebrate the season of events which have been enriched with great guests. This included a fans' forum with City’s Head Coach Daniel Farke but also a broad range of events including the Casino Night in December.
At the top of the Terrace, over 100 faces, some whose support has been continuous since the group opened their doors four years ago but also some new faces who, hopefully, will attend more regularly.
Throughout the 2018/19 season, our group have raised a jaw-dropping amount of £7500 to donate to the wonderful Community Sports Foundation.
That total means that, since its inception, our group have raised over £21,000 for the CSF charity to enhance and continue the unbelievable work they conduct in our local community. At Carrow Road, it was a night of celebration and fun for all who attended, as they conversed on all things Norwich City in these particularly excitable times for the football club.
Representing the football club on the night were Chief Operating Officer Ben Kensell, who discussed the importance of the group in his speech to open the evening. Ben was joined by Business and Project Director Zoe Ward, Director Tom Smith, Head of Media Gemma Gifford and Executive Assistant to the Board Lynette Hannant.
CSF Chief Executive Ian Thornton & Jackie Thornton Head of Development also supported the event and Ian praised the group's effort and spoke of the importance of fundraising for them and the difference it made.
Fan of the Season Jacob Bowles also opened up his ‘On the Stall City´ on Thursday for one night only inside Carrow Road. The smiley Bowles family displayed some fantastic Norwich City memorabilia including some programmes from the famous 1959 FA Cup run. Jacob remained undefeated in his programme challenge with several punters attempting to test his remarkable amount of knowledge.
CanaryBall Rally Team Team U Pukki were also present, attempting to raise money from their venture around Europe in October. Team members Anita Byrne, David Powell, and Lorraine Taylor were orchestrating a traditional game of ‘Play Your Cards Right’ with a twist. That twist involved using a popular Norwich City chant surrounding the respective directions of travel of both City and rivals Ipswich Town.
In total on the night just over £400 was raIsed for the CSF, so a great night for everyone.
This season has to be to remember for the Norwich City Fans Social Club, with some fantastic events shared with great people. Thank you to all those who attend, donate and join in with our events this season. Now let's all get behind the club and finish the job.
