Players Fans’ Forum – 17 August 2016

Football heroes, swearing in Portuguese, tough players and pasta were some of the subjects under discussion at the Norwich City Fans’ Social Club on 17 August. Jacob Murphy, Ivo Pinto and Jonny Howson were the players under the spotlight at the Players’ Forum organised by NCFSC and hosted by Darren Eadie at Carrow Road.

The evening started with some firmly tongue-in-cheek banter between Eadie and the players, in which we learned that Howson apparently spends quite a lot of time and money fishing for carp, Pinto has a soft spot for Ronaldo and why Murphy has learned to be more cautious on social media. The floor was then opened to the fans, with some wonderfully diverse questions about life in and out of the game which included pre-match lunches, Alex Neil’s coaching style, personal superstitions and the most difficult players to come up against as opposition. Jacob proved to be quite the comedian and fielded probably the best answer of the evening in response to a question about what each had planned for life after football. Indicating with a look of feigned shock that he had not perhaps given this subject a great deal of thought, the 21 year-old exclaimed: “My mum still does my washing!”

It was another entertaining event in which the players fielded the questions with honesty and humour. Keep an eye on www.ncfsc.co.uk for the next Social Club evening, which should be coming along in October. In addition, Wednesday’s raffle raised another £157 for the Community Sports Foundation.
